Hello! My name is Katie, but most people call me Rieger

(It’s pronounced like “eager” but with an R in front of it)

I hope I leave the world better than I found it, so that’s what I’ve built my design career around.

I am a product designer and strategist

After 10+ years of designing for social impact, I’ve found that some of the best product opportunities aren't hidden in complex user research, but are instead in conversations people have every day. My superpower is listening to what people experience and translating it into strategy that works.

I've shaped product strategy across health equity, climate action, and educational access, always starting with research to uncover systemic problems that are otherwise missed.

These days, I am improving outcomes in education as the Founding Designer at Lumi.

I am an illustrator and cartoonist

My work includes custom-painted bicycle frames, greeting cards, calendars, and (someday) picture books.

I was recently selected for my first ever group art show in Los Angeles, presented by Smith and Parallels and Longitudes. The show was a fundraiser to preserve the Verdugo Mountains.

I have also done work for clients including Rapha and Allez LA bike shop.
